Our Purpose
LifeInsuranceCalc exists to give individuals free, private, no-pressure tools for estimating their life insurance needs. Most people arrive at an insurance conversation with no idea what number makes sense — and that's exactly when they're most likely to be over-sold or under-covered.
Our calculators run entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is transmitted to our servers or stored anywhere. There are no agents, no sales calls, and no follow-up emails.
What Our Calculators Do
We provide educational estimates using established financial planning methodologies — the income replacement approach and the DIME method (Debt, Income, Mortgage, Education). These are the same approaches licensed financial planners use to benchmark coverage needs.
Our term vs. whole life cost comparison uses typical market rate benchmarks by age and health class to illustrate the cost difference — not quotes from specific insurers.
What We Are Not
LifeInsuranceCalc is not an insurance company, broker, or agency. We do not sell insurance products, earn commissions on policy purchases, or have any relationship with any insurer. Our calculators produce estimates — not offers, not quotes, and not insurance advice.
For actual policy quotes and personalized recommendations, consult a licensed insurance professional in your state.
How We Build and Maintain These Calculators
Each calculator on this site is built around a published, well-established methodology rather than a proprietary formula we can't explain. The income replacement multiplier (10-12× annual income) and the DIME method are both standard approaches taught in financial planning education — we didn't invent them, and we cite them by name so you can research the underlying logic yourself if you want to go deeper.
The term-vs-whole-life cost comparison uses illustrative rate benchmarks based on typical published pricing patterns by age, coverage amount, and health class — it is meant to show the general shape of the cost difference between term and whole life, not to predict your exact premium. Actual quotes depend on your specific health history, the insurer's underwriting guidelines, and market conditions at the time you apply, all of which can only be determined by an actual application.
Our Standard for Accuracy
We update the reference figures behind these calculators — average premium ranges, health class definitions, and methodology explanations — periodically as published industry data changes. We don't claim real-time pricing because no free calculator can responsibly make that claim; only a licensed insurer's actual underwriting process can tell you your real premium. Editorial Standards
Content on this site is written and reviewed in-house by Berean Defense L.L.C. before publication. Every calculator methodology is based on named, publicly documented financial-planning conventions — the income replacement method and the DIME (Debt, Income, Mortgage, Education) method — rather than a proprietary or unexplained formula. We do not publish specific insurer premium quotes, mortality statistics, or third-party statistics we have not been able to trace back to a real, published source; where a figure can't be verified, we use general, hedged language instead ("typically," "often," "most financial planners recommend") rather than a fabricated precise number.
We do not currently publish content under an individually named, credentialed reviewer (such as a CFP or licensed insurance professional). That is a real gap relative to larger competitor sites, and we'd rather disclose it plainly than imply a credential we don't have. If you want a personalized, credentialed review of your specific coverage decision, consult a licensed insurance professional or financial planner in your state.

If you find an error — a broken calculation, an outdated figure, or a claim that doesn't hold up against its source — email contact@bereandefense.com with the page and the issue. We review and correct verified errors and note significant corrections with an updated review date on the affected page.
